Do you remember when you were in first grade, and you had the project where you make a cube out of paper? It started off resembling a cross, but when folded up, it became a perfect box. That is what UVW mapping and unwrapping is, except much more complicated. You must map out an entire object, one that, at times, has an almost unholy amount of faces and polygons. In class we have been working on these and to be quite honest they are very difficult. It is very hard to perfectly line up the image to the polygons. Our current projects have all been centered around UVW, including but not limited to, a soda can, a robot, a wall, and more. I have thoroughly enjoyed this new type of modeling and think it is much more useful than any of the other material editors and such. I am grateful to have learned it.

I got this game for Christmas last year, and to be honest I haven’t stopped playing it. The game is based all around World War II, as sort of a obligatory sequel to their Battlefield 1, which came out two years ago. Battlefield V is fairly new, having it released in the winter of 2018. In terms of the graphics, I think they are some of the best i have ever seen, and even rival Uncharted in the beauty of the game, wether it be in cutscenes, story mode, or PVP. The story mode is also quite interesting because it goes over quite a few famous missions, battles and pivotal points during the war, allowing you to play these out. Another cool aspect of the game is the historical accuracy, with the exact weapons, vehicles, cities, and functionality of said technology. I love the PVP parts of the game as well, that include vehicles, a capture the point style, a conquest style, and even a battle royale mode that has been teased recently, with a map that is ten times the size of the games largest map, one that is already gaining attention for its vastness. However, one of my complaints for Battlefield V is that it does not have the same flashy Easter eggs seen in the other battlefield games. I really hope that will change.

We have gone over all sorts of things with UVW mapping and all others, but I have grown a lot in this genre and know (to an extent) what I am doing. For me, the most difficult part of mapping was that of the trimming to fit into size and adjusting the model to fit the map. What surprised me the most about working with them was how big of a change it made for how good my models looked. -I have had a big change in my understanding of modeling. -I am working with UVW mapping. -I am learnig. New things every day. -I am happy with how my models look with UVW mapping. After being in the game design pathway for a while, Ive had the pleasure of being able to go through a lot of tests and quizzes. One thing that I have noticed and thought that I should call attention to is the repetitive manor of the questions. While I understand that the exact amount of content that can easily be translated into these tests and quizzes can be low, I have experienced major doubt in choosing the same answer five times in a row. Just recently, a test we took covered some minor things from the past year as well as went over those that were more recent and fresher in our brains. I had known the more recent answers easily but it felt like all of the questions were changed slightly as to make them seem “different” where in reality, the only difference is the ideas we have about these things. In the future, I would like to see a change in this that refers to the curriculum in a much more confusing way, so that doubts are not crippling to the grades of those taking.

During this past month or so, I have fallen greatly behind in my 3D modeling and am currently quite concerned, as someone with attention issues it is difficult for me to stay on task, especially towards the end of the day, but I try my best anyway. Despite my efforts, I still am at least three projects behind and risk failing (seeing how we have a strict late work rule). I am currently working on a picture frame with sweep, which is progress, but concerning to me how lose the end of the quarter is. Our unit has been focusing on the advanced techniques in 3Ds Max. However, I do feel as though I am learning and enjoy practicing new skills and such in the program itself. I enjoy my classmates and their company and think that if I focus more I will be able to get a lot more work done in this next week.

The first project we did, was that of a "romantic evening" where the class was tasked with making a selection of silverware and plates and stuff, all based on splines. however, we had only 3 days to complete all this, making something that may be a generally easy project, to a huge crunch for time and work. The project was a follow up to a refresher that was hard for me, because of an issue with the H drive on the computer. Another issue I happen to have with finals is that of the rules of exemption. Now, I’m not against exemption as a whole, but when the absences come into play, things start to get complicated. There is no excuse for missing school in the eyes of DPS except for being hospitalized. I am unable to be exempt from my Spanish class only due to too many absences, but 4 of them are playing off of the death of my grandfather. Sadly, if I’m not the one dying, it doesn’t matter, and I feel like I am being punished for doing the only thing i could at the time. Finally, we have started to enter the realm of 3D modeling, opening up millions of new opportunities and ideas for the kids in our class. We are working in a program called 3Ds Max Interface, but it has a few issues. The Interface is very resource intensive, causing the entire program to crash and sometimes even delete entire projects. This problem makes the program quite difficult to work with. The first project we worked on was a snowman, just a simple buddy made of spheres and rectangular prisms, but even with the very basic layout and execution, a lot of students had problems. Last friday, my group went out and started filming our own skit, an anti-drug psa, and to be honest, it was really fun. But on the flip side, I also think that my group is the only one who has gotten to this step, and this is concerning, seeing how the project is due this wednesday. I had the very important job of creating the graphics for the project as well as filming a majority of the film. I personally think the skit is quite funny, in an unintentional way. -We are doing video projects in Game Design. -My group is quite happy with its final project. -I am excited about the other peoples projects. -I was the graphic designer and photographer. We are now truly editing videos in Game Design, where we have to make thematic montages and edit a knock knock joke to be the most awkward situation possible. I have just recently completed the thematic montage and frankly, I am quite pleased with the finished product. The scene starts out in a lush, serene forest, with raindrops tumbling off of plump flowers, and beautiful, luxurious classical music. But the clip changes, and the trees and plants transfer to a new environment, a wasteland with nothing but rocks and dead shrubs, and intense bass boosted rap over the video. The theme of all of this is obviously life and death... With a secret ingredient, dank memes. Dank memes are a popular part of modern culture. They usually contain a lot of overexposure (the visual representation of bass boosted music) and significant amounts of irrelevant images. Memes are such a large part of teenage culture, that you probably cant have a conversation without a vine reference, or "inside" joke being made. They can be so absurd that you probably hear them all the time and just let it go over your head. but to sum it all up, its important to respect others, respect yourself, and have FUN! Also premiere pro is getting easier and Im looking forward to future projects.
